Hope it all goes well. Sound like another bit of medicinal technology that has improved vastly over the years.:-)

Rather than saying, “I’ll do it when I feel better,” I said instead, “I’ll feel better when I’ve done it.”
Very positive, well done. :)

Ditto.

Can you get a laptop/tablet on the floor to keep you occupied whilst laying down ?

…Now I have to maintain what they call "posture" for a week - lying face down for at least 45 minutes of every hour, day and night. 7 days of that then 7 days of doing absolutely nothing.

Post op check this Monday at St Thomas's then another visit in 2 weeks, hopefully for sign-off...
Best wishes for a speedy recovery Nick.

Amazing what they can do. One way and another it hasn’t been your year so far, has it?

A little tale about eyes.

Next to Plymouth station there’s a rather beautiful turn-of-the-last-century building which is now flats but until a few years ago it was the Plymouth Royal Eye Infirmary.
My wife’s late uncle was admitted there in 1918 at the age of five after getting in the way of a live round his mates were playing with that someone had brought back from the war as a souvenir which went off when thrown on the floor and left his left eye hanging out of its socket. When he was released three years later (!!) the eye had been restored but all he could get from it was vague impressions of light and dark. 72 years later in 2000 he developed a cataract in the other eye and was admitted to the same ward to have that treated. Whilst that was being carried out they looked at the damaged eye and advised they could restore the vision to that, which they did. Once he came out, he was completely disoriented for several weeks while he got used to having 3D vision again after 72 years without!

As we talking about eyes I think its time for a stroke story 🤣.

Part of the damage my stroke did was to the muscles around my eye . This means I can't close my eye singularly , I have to remember it's impossible for me to wink now . Winking used to be my major chat up and now I'm just left with closing my eyes at women .

The bonus is the skin around my right eye is wrinkle free .

Best wishes Nick .

I was deeply impressed by the tech they were using. The local anaesthetic is wearing off and no pain or discomfort at all. Having said that, the administration of a block is very very unpleasant....

Sitting in Oakenshaw (West Yorkshire) waiting for my fishcake and chips lunch, prior to setting off to Manchester airport.

I'm off to sunny sunny Spain, viva Espana. :D

If my small Chromebook works in Majorca I will keep in touch. :)

Boot fair this morning. Sold lots of honey, which was good!

When I was allowed, I wandered round... Mostly (99.99%) complete tat, but I did get this Heathkit GR-64 SW valve receiver (1964-1971) for just 1 quid... In surprisingly immaculate condition seeing as how it's over 50 years old.

I'm at Potters resort for a bowls week.

Just got back from tonight's show which was about American music. The finale was dedicated to Elvis.

The whole cast worked their socks off and the choreography was slick.

Got two matches on Tuesday and Wednesday (four in total) and more Thursday if our team reaches the last 16.

Spent a couple of happy hours searching for fossils on Charmouth beach yesterday. Satisfaction out of all proportion to the modesty of our collection. Sadly, one member of the party found it all a bit boring.

I've just booked a 1 year all--attractions ticket for the Historic Dockyard at Portsomouth - tomorrow I'll make my first use of it to visit the Mary Rose, which I've not visited since it fully opened in its dedicated exhbition facility.

That'll leave me another 364 days to (re)visit the Submarine museum, HMS Warrior, HMS Victory, et al.
Sorry, I couldn't resist!
