I bolted the drivers to a spare bit of plywood (just a flat piece with no hole) tightened them down, then when removed, the gaskets are crushed to a couple of mm thick. They barely project beyond the driver basket once that is done.

The MONACOR speaker grille covers the complete driver.
The diaphragm and the two cones should remain free. For my taste, a full-range loudspeaker with cones already has a 100% retro look. I am looking for something that only covers the outer edge (There, where the screws and the seal is).

Something like that, for example:

But for 12 inch driver.

Now we move on. They are to be wooden rings with inlaid brass strips:

In cross-section it looks like this:

Wood and brass is already there:

Continue building... All holes marked and drilled:

The first milling will be the back, where free space will be created for the full-range speaker:

Then the plate is turned and screwed to a remnant piece of wood panel. Now the front side is processed:

For the inlays, 3mm grooves are milled with a 3mm milling cutter:

Here the inner contour is milled:

With the router compass and scrap wood I milled bending tools, with which I can bend the brass rods into bows:

I glued the brass bows into the 3mm grooves with UHU WOOD MAX:

With the vintage screws it looks like this:

Just so held on, you can see very nicely how it will look later once...

A few days of grinding later, I was finally able to coat the rings with the oil:

In this way, the raw wooden rings have become very noble decorative panels.

The rings fit centered over the full range speaker. Therefore, I could use them as a drilling template. Since the speaker cabinets are made of beech tree plywood, it is very easy to cut M6 threads into them:

And this is the result of my work. With the rings in front of the full range speakers, the look is particularly "retro vintage". They turned out very nice. And the speakers sound even better (The eye listens too):

I am very happy because I finally finished.

After a few months of using the full range drivers, I wanted to tell you that the speakers have become more present in the bass. So the Fanes need a good break-in period. I actually only listen without a subwoofer. Only with some albums, which are a bit "bass weak" by nature, do I sometimes add the corner horn.
I haven't even tried bass reflex because I like it (closed) very much.
