Various things have blown up during this episode - as soon as I realised that the utility supply was going bonkers, I turned off/unplugged as much as I could, since weird stuff was going on. As there was a neutral fault too, when we turned off some led lights, they glowed dimly, but when turned on, they went completely dark!

The photo below is part of the cooker hood controls: the VDR across the mains has detonated and the 12vac electronic transformer for the hood lights also died.

Several wall-warts also died, as did a lot of the led lights in our cottage. Probably more stuff to find yet ...

Interestingly, it's mostly older stuff that's gone kaput, so maybe modern wall-warts etc are just better protected.

Edit: just found a blown PIR sensor too...
Edit: and another led driver....

Extremely glad all the expensive computer and electronics kit is on proper UPS systems.

I'd take Mikes comment as an expression of surprise about what Jack (Nick) has gone through during this saga. At the very least it shows the post was read and digested.

What Jack is going through is unfortunate, more so in this cold spell. I'm glad he's getting to grips with those responsible for the repairs. :)

Maybe it wasn't for you?

Why? there was nothing wrong I could see about what you posted. Carry on carrying on.

That's exactly what I assumed, and I don't see that you need to change anything.

Ok, possibly it is my problem, although I don’t believe I’m so different to make me the only one who gets pissed off when opening A-T forum, I find new posts on threads of interest that are nothing more than reactionary exclamations. Exclamations offer nothing of value and nothing beyond the information posted in the post they are responding to.

Yes, Nick, not for me. From what you’ve said to me before, not for you also.

Yep but I am happy for things that give pleasure for others. It may come as a shock that not everything has to be for and about me.

And exclamations can add value in that that give encouragement to the topic contributor that someone is interested.
