#1 Good idea?

Post by Daniel Quinn »

I'm undertaking my definitive amp build at the moment and the idea of a resistor on the capacitors as reared his head.

My mono blocks have 2 33,000 caps in each unit .

How is the resistor wired up ? 1 per cap or to the positive or negative of both and what type and what value ?

I seem to remember 1 Megohms across each cap, something like that.

I can't imagine why you would think that, but I abhor cruelty or violence of any kind.

1Meg and 33,000uf is likely to take some time. To be honest, in the case of SS kit not sure it matters, unlike valves, it will keep drawing power until the cap is discharged.

I didn't read this yet but Rod is usually on the money.

https://sound-au.com/articles/bleeders.htm#s1

I do remember a conversation with Phil Ramsey and him saying don't forget to put one in and me saying why and him saying if you don't it will bite you in the arse the next time you open it up. But as Nick has said that really relates to valves.

Very true, I was thinking of something else.
