Valve Collection
#1 Valve Collection
Big stash of valves here, they are asking for help on what’s of value, anything jump out at anyone other than the usual EL34/84 and KT66?

I haven't had much time yet, looks like there are many more of interest.
Steve's the man for this really.

Yeah thought there might be plenty there of interest to Steve.

I looked through the list and recognised 90% of the numbers
But there's no value in 97 % of those numbers
Yeah you may see most of them on ebay for £5.00 or more but very few would actually buy them
Probably £200 as a job lot, is my valuation... but somebody will say they are worth more so I'll keep my head down
A radio guy may have a different view
But never the less, it was an interesting read for me..

The tube manual is quite like a telephone book. The number of it perfect. It is useful to make it possible to speak with a girl. But we can't see her beautiful face from the telephone number

Yep. This looks like and old radio/TV guy. Just because something's in a box doesn't make it NOS or even still a vacuum...
I'd concur with Steve...

I had a quick whizz through the lists, the clue is in: 'radio and TV engineer', so yes mostly specialized radio and TV valves, not a lot of use, if any, for anything else. Except any specifically audio ones. But they'd be low power o/p pentodes and such (not that there's anything wrong with low power o/p pentodes!). However if you are into radio or TV restoration you could well be desperate for some obscure valve, most of which have gone to landfill.....
There is or was a vintage wireless Yahoo group, they may have migrated to a different platform (Yahoo dumped all their user groups couple of years ago).

Thanks Mike, there was a suggestion for him to contact the BVWS.

The prices at recent BVWS auctions have been very low - there's a recent thread on this on a UK vintage radio forum where I'm a moderator.

Certain specific valves go for good money, the rest for very little indeed.
The BVWS guy to contact is Mike Barker - his email is easy to find.
