#1 WTB - Power Supply transformr

Post by Ray P »

Anyone sitting on small, decent quality, power supply transformer with a 120VAC secondary they might part with. By small I'm thinking 50VA - 100VA range, Primary for UK mains.

Ta,
Sorry, I couldn't resist!

I thought I might have, but I can't find the one I'm thinking of. :(

I did find one I'd forgotten about but it's only 115v output @ 80va, and it's a non isolating auto wound transformer of unknown quality. The output is via a socket which looks like a USA 2 pin with an extra hole.

I can take a picture if it helps, but it won't be till tomorrow afternoon.

Yours for nowt if it suits your purpose. :)

I'll have a search for the missing one when I get back from my walk early afternoon Thursday.

Sitting up in bed I remembered where the "other" transformer was stashed. :)

It's an auto transformer (non isolating) from Walsall Tx, model ATX2250A, 250va 50/60Hz.

The input has 4 terminals,E, 0, 220v, 230v, 240v

The output is 0 and 115v, but using the 220v or 230v input will raise that a bit. I've had it for years but never found a use for it.

Again, it's yours for nowt if it will do what you want.

PS It's not small, or light. I can measure and weigh it if necessary.

Cheers Phil, I think the small one will do the trick - I need to build a power supply to test a preamp circuit build.

Say no more Ray, I'll get it packed up and posted, probably on Monday.

I take it you haven't moved recently ?

Unless I have misread, the fact they are autoformers and so not isolating would make me not use them. Consider someone wiring a mains plug incorrectly...

Ray, I won't be offended if you want to change your mind.
