Maybe they are for people who value exclusivity and snob value over sound quality per se ? :)

Surely not ! In my experience the majority of “audiophiles” believe that high level sound quality is commensurate with high prices and vice versa. There are a lot of credulous people out there.

Having spent a while building very expensive HiFi speakers at a company you might've heard of (won't post publicly), I can say this: price is very reliably proportional to weight.

This appears to apply in all aspects of HiFi equipment: speakers, amps, turntables, cables...

Performance may vary.

We used to have a Sales Director who would estimate the price he could charge for a software package by the weight of the manual (some time ago of course).

No, just came across a reference to them and having looked at the FB page I thought they would be worth putting on the radar. Looks like there is going to be an 8” full ranger as well as the 15” LF driver.

Well, much to my amazement, all the holes were in the right place.

Very nice.

I look forward to listening to them.

Really nice Nick.. worth the wait
The tube manual is quite like a telephone book. The number of it perfect. It is useful to make it possible to speak with a girl. But we can't see her beautiful face from the telephone number

Pease enlighten me: I presume the C2C distance between the Lowther and the woofer is not a problem because the crossover is low enough to allow for it without creating adverse lobing effects ? But what is the advantage of having the woofer so low down? Does it minimise floor bounce ?

It increases the woofer bass response by floor reinforcement. The bass units roll off above 150Hz, so the midrange effects are minimised.

Look awesome - I would hope (and assume) that the SQ is as good as the looks.
Well done 8)
