#1 Metal stock supplier...

Post by jack »

Just to say, if you're buying METAL, you could do a lot worse than use https://www.metals4u.co.uk/

I've used them a few times, from small stock to C-section beams and RSJs and they've been excellent, fast and well priced.

Seems OK for a one stop supplier, but I checked their price on a piece of 2mm 500 x 300 alloy like I've just received from an Ebay supplier and I found their price calculator gave different prices for a standard size and a custom size with the same dimensions. :?

Anyway, better bargains can be had if searching Ebay. Click metal used to be a good supplier.

Seems reasonable, they would have to use a larger standard size and cut it down. Would you expect them to do that for free?

I totally agree, BUT the custom size was cheaper, which is what confused me.

To be fair they say that they will cut to size for no extra charge.

No pleasing some people.

They cut the C-section beams for my workshop cellar into 3Mtr lengths FOC - I couldn't have moved them otherwise (working on my own). Even so, each bit was 45kg...

Why "used to be" ?

Let me rephrase that, they were a good supplier when I last used them, but it was quite a while ago.

OK, I think I had them in my favourites, but not actually bought anything lately to be honest.
