And how does that make you feel?

I have not used Amazon for many years (through choice) so it does not make ME feel anything really.

I just wonder how many others may not realise how big companies accumulate data from them, and whether it is a big deal,or not.

The point about these organisations is that they want you to buy from them.

Thankfully Im not an automaton and thus I am not concerned re commercial organisations.

Statistically that's not true.

But for you to make that choice, you must have had a reason?

Probably not rational reasons.

And for the same irrational reasons I would not buy anything from Apple.

I understand why people use Amazon, but I'd rather (if possible and within reason) support smaller traders.

Smaller traders *are* on Amazon, what they gain in sales they lose is customer contact as the ‘customer’ belongs to Amazon and their buying habits. It’s called Amazon Market Place.

Yep we (The dog rescue, and No 1 Son) both use Market Place to sell T Shirts, works well for that, they get made and shipped with our images direct to the customer. Only thing you have to watch is someone stealing your images.

I use Market Place for second-hand books and CDs (from small independent sellers if possible) - it's generally worked well for me and puts a few quid in the seller's tills so I can live with the data gathering thing.
Sorry, I couldn't resist!

I don’t think things like this are avoidable these days, unless you live in a cave and do t use anything electronic.
