I've been creeping up on a pp with ixys hockey pucks for a while and I cant find a complimentary pair for love nor money. Are you still using ixys sot-227?

edit: maybe it's semantics is he or are you referring to a close match as a complimentary pair?

It's a close (ish) match that I tried as a experiment in the amp I took to owston that worked a lot better than it had any right to. But then a lot of devices sold as comp pairs are far from perfect matches.

aha, thanks, I hadn't looked at those....I will now!

I was currently favouring ixtn40p50p and ixfn48n60p or ixfn140n30p

I was struggling to find any meaningful models for any of the sot-227. The ixys library has a lot of hyperfets but no sot-227....

I don't suppose you have any models to share?

None that are much use. The trick is getting them to not oscillate, the models don’t help for that. For DC conditions then close enough is good enough.

Interesting what Frank Blohbaum has done with the hockey pucks. Another take on the circlotron I think...also maybe a shot in the arm for Thorens whom I have a soft spot for....the only reason I thought there was an improvement when swapping my td150 for a LP12 was the superior arm...

anyway:

edit: I hadn't noticed, but that was 10 years ago...must pay more attention

Had a chance to hear Nick's P6's for the first time in his set-up at Crannage. They are very, very good. Lots of tone in mids and treble , very refined along with the muscle. For many people & systems these would be the perfect amp. They are even a manageable weight per unit, as I was encouraged to find out after 5pm today.
