I think 572B's but they may be 811's.
Diet : :D They are 572B's - just dug them out.

I thought that might have been what you meant....

We(or at least I was) talking about Svetlana SV572, completely different valve. I remember back in the day I had to qualify every reference to make sure people with 572Bs knew what I was talking about.

I still wonder why Svetlana named them the same as an existing valve. go figure!

maybe 572Bs are valuable as well.

Umm.....
Sorry to keep this thread off-topic, but searching via TDSL shows Svetlana have ( had ) a 572B, a SV572-160 a SV572-10 , and a SV572-3 maybe more. I think they are all 6.3V/4A filament.
The SV572-160 looks near as dammit the same as a 572B, not sure why both exist. Must say I'm confused. What are the ones you have ?

not sure about the sv572-160, never seen one but from memory Paul might have had a pair...

I have sv572-3 I think 2 pairs
sv572-10 maybe 1 pair left
sv811-3 3 pairs
sv811-3a 1 pair

most people in the states were aware of the distinction IIRC between the old 572b and the newer svetalana valves which I believe were invented in the mid 1990s and heavily promoted by Eric Barbour. I liked them(SV572) and for the life of me couldn't tell the difference between them and 211s. I have to say though that comparisons were very limited as both breeds are rare.

Lately I've gone a bit agnostic and really don't think I've heard many valves, if any, that are any better than my 2A3. After our session with Steve's new one I think I'm even more convinced. As for the SV572s, they are extremely hard work and very expensive to get singing and considering I've discovered mosfets, jFets and now maybe latfets that do just as well, maybe better in some areas, then they've got to go.

as always YMMV

Paul has a pair of sv 811-10s which I have. Paul was good enough to lend them to me when I considered building Eric barbours 811-10 amp aeons ago. Heater supplies put me off it eventually

Now you have me thinking - I was given a small box of 120-0-120/15-0-15 transformers and I could use one of these regulators from one secondary to tune down to 5V perhaps for use with the el-cheapo DAC?

Sounds like a good idea.

I ordered three (3) kits like Ed has, and they came today.

Two will get used on the 811a project and one to power a chip amp I have laying around.
