I also was looking for slate plinths recently. Apart from slateage in Burnley there is also Northwest Analogue in Preston.

Just thought it worth pointing some of you guys in the direction of perhaps local slate suppliers for you...I was after a large piece as a base to sit my TT on and got a 75Kg lump from a local monumental stonemason for £20. He even cut it for me.

Well worth a try as they often have off-cuts but even if they don't some will be more than happy to cut and polish slate for you much cheaper than buying it from a specialist Hifi supplier.

Very true. When I built Fakedeck I approached one of the local monumtenal masons. The girl in the front office quoted well into 3 figures, but when I went round the back to the workshop I spotted a spare bit that they let me have for £15 cut to size.

Nice to see someone's paying attention :D

In fact, it was £15 all in, cut into two rectangular pieces on a huge water-cooled table-saw. Very impressive.

Good price. If you'd had a template, you could have had it cut out for the TT.
