#1 World designs PIO caps

Post by pre65 »

Has anyone here any opinions on the World Designs PIO capacitors.

They only have a very limited range but have 0.1uf (100nf) @ £15.00

Personally I don't know them

No experience of them but they look a lot like these:

but at a premium price.

I wouldn't use Aluminium PIO now after using Copper PIO eg. Jensens . They are distinctly better on tone/transparency .
Benny at DIY Paradiso is selling Jensen coppers at a very good price - have a look down his list, try 0.22uF's ( no 0.1's )

Should be less than you're quoting there, even after importing from Belgium .
Tell him I sent you !

Oh, you need to buy 4-off for those prices .
I will have a pair of 0.33uF at that price, I can send you a cheque , I'll split postage with you . How about it ?

Admittedly it was several years ago, but when I was searching for oil caps, I found that Jensen would deal with me directly even though I only ordered four. I also found this was the cheapest way of obtaining them and their service was excellent. Go into their website. They don't advertise this individual customer service, but send them an email with your requirements and the response should be positive if circumstances haven't changed.

I have some Ampohm PIO's albeit they are in a plastic casing, and for coupling, they're not that special. I now use them for bypass in the 2A3PSE. I agree the WD ones look like the HFC ones at twice the price. I remember Peter C when he ran WD bought in caps which were basically just relabelled with the WD logo.
