Well, I do know what you are doing but, unless you have some kind of financial target you are aiming at, it does beg the questions, why, and is it worth it?Nick wrote:There has to be some reason for staying up till 1 every night building power supplies.you really are showing off now Gorham!

don't know how I missed it, that is wonderful enjoy learning, there is large amounts of envy hereWell, lust got the better of me. The combination of it being my birthday last week (and a prime birthday at that), and spotting this 9 year old specimen on line in a shop up the road (Manchester), I now am looking after one of these
best learn to play it now.

Been working at the Students Union here since Christmas, mainly rigging up the ~35kW PA system for club nights. Arrive at 4pm, get home again at 6.30am.
Decided to reward myself, as a lot of the recent events had been quite well paid...
The obligatory "topless" shot. CD included for scale - this thing is really tiny.
I've had the guitar for a while, and the Laney cab came up in a Cash Converters for £15, with a HH speaker in there. Methinks it dates back to the '80s, same as my bass head. Couldn't leave without it, so didn't.
Sounds nice enough, anyway, though I did have to throw a couple of resistors in there to get the impedance out the gutter for this little amp.
The valves are a pair of 12ax7 for the pre-amp and phase splitter, and a 12au7 for the push-pull output stage.
The output transformer is also teeny-tiny, so very easy to get the saturated valve sound at fairly low volumes.
If money allows, I might start playing around with different brands/types (maybe a lower-gain 12at7) of valve to play with the sound further.

I changed Pearl's springs t'other day for some of these http://www.rawvintage.com/eng/item_springs.php
What can I say - she sounds better than ever now, and she didn't sound bad before.
I'm a very happy bunny, and it's £17.00 well spent
