#1 6D22s / EY500A as B+ delay

Post by Val »

Hi All

Newby thicko question time!

I am in the process of building the PP 300b Transformer coupled monoblock as on the Wound Components website and would like to add a delay to the B+ ( the HT design is unusual as it has a valve rectifier in parallel with solid state diodes, so no slow start).

I have seen the 6D22S as a recommendation for this. I believe the EY500A is identical?

Am I right in thinking that I can just place this in the B+ after the last capacitor? So wiring would be 5v heater to pins 4&5, B+ in from the last capacitor to pin 2/7/8 and out from the cap to the OPT? I believe that I will loose around 15v on the B+, but this is fine as its already a little high. My existing 5v heater supply to the GZ34 is rated at 4A, so should be ok to supply both?

Any issues that I should be aware of? Is there a better and simple way of achieving this?

Thanks

Val
