Re: PERSPEX QUASAR ver 2.0 prototype build

Pease enlighten me: I presume the C2C distance between the Lowther and the woofer is not a problem because the crossover is low enough to allow for it without creating adverse lobing effects ? But what is the advantage of having the woofer so low down? Does it minimise floor bounce ?

Re: PERSPEX QUASAR ver 2.0 prototype build

No, just came across a reference to them and having looked at the FB page I thought they would be worth putting on the radar. Looks like there is going to be an 8” full ranger as well as the 15” LF driver.

Re: PERSPEX QUASAR ver 2.0 prototype build

2 monoblocks and a pre-amp  Maybe they are for people who value exclusivity and snob value over sound quality per se ? :) Surely not ! In my experience the majority of “audiophiles” believe that high level sound quality is commensurate with high prices and vice versa. There are a lot of credu...

Steve
Given your pursuit of a bass solution I thought you might be interested in the speaker that XRK is working on ATM:

XRK is a one man industry and is clearly a pretty smart guy.

You might want to hold fire; I have it from the horses mouth that SBA are going to be bringing out some 18” Bianco woofers for OB . . . .

Re: Single-Ended Pentode Redux

Interesting to read the thoughts of you guys on valves and SS. Perhaps an effective compromise would be a DHT preamp providing the voltage gain into a MoFo or F4?

Re: PERSPEX QUASAR ver 2.0 prototype build

I’ve just happened upon a post by Nelson Pass re full range drivers. Seems he is also a fan of the PM6 Silver, albeit modified with Slagle Field Coils. Nice to have an upgrade path Nick 😉

Re: Heavy Metal Amplifier

Lots more metalwork again today, the chassis is coming together nicely. Drilled and tapped another 20 or so holes today - that's around 40 all in and not a single failure (hope you're reading Phil) - the tap guide I bought was pricey but worth every penny. Some more pictures tomorrow. I’ve previous...
