Ah so ~ I've just looked at the 5670 data sheet and it says for 50V @ 5mA the cathode should be positive 1.5V. By quick calculation that makes the resistors 1.5k. There's still something seriously amiss somewhere cos for it not to work even with 2k2 is completely bonkers. It's almost as though A. t...

You shouldn't be getting any -V on the grids, and the cathodes should be positive of your 0V. looks like they're still forward conductive. Perhaps the resistors need to be bigger! http://livinginthepast-audioweb.co.uk/kbf/th_scratchhead.gif You have to appreciate I was just guessing about the resist...

I sell one, 100VA, 240 -> 120 step-down, 120 -> 240 step-up, 240 -> 120-0-120 centre-tapped, all isolated windings, depends how you wire it up. £29.70.

No it's usually decided by the link itself. E.g. [a href="whatever" target="_blank"]blurb[/a] opens in a secondary window. You can also have target="_self", target="_top", target="specific-name" If there is no target specified the default is _self. U...

they may be useful, but they are certainly NOT that useful... Could be that I'm super-fussy of course :D I was thinking of paying something like 50p each max...to save 10 mins punching and drilling... Don't know who's going to make them for 50p ~ even if you DIY a sheet of metal alone would be more...

I've just re-read the post Mike and realise I didn't understand the first sentence........ what is it you were going to say, and what is it that Nick already did??? Give us a clue ? What does it do,or fit :?: are they 12 pin.. or the large british 4 pin, but with a fancy middle ? I am guessing the ...

I don't recall saying that they should simply be removed. I prefer to use a different topology, one that does t require them. I fully admit that this is partly borne of prejudice. Let he who hath no sin cast the first stone. However, in a driver stage there was certainly an improvement, even just s...

The only problem is, if it were the jfets, then if nothing changes, why wouldn't it happen again, in another 3 or 4 weeks? We need to identify the cause as well as the duff bits. 'Tis a bit worrying ... I think the phono pre would have been 'On' before I connected up the buffer (back to front). Jul...

Mark, go back and read the posts before this, I was trying to be ironic in response to the suggestion that Steve's choice of valves was incorrect because it contradicted "good practice" irrespective of the fact that Steve liked the resulting sound. Oh dear .. http://livinginthepast-audiow...
