so does that mean that we just have different tastes,or is it that individuals hear the same sound differently? That's quite probable, depends how your brain is 'wired up' compared with somebody else. Also there's the assumption everybody's ears work exactly the same, assuming they're healthy to st...

Remember this article? Pretty sure somewhere i...

Actually, a cathode cap on the first stage might help, as it is the Ra of the first valve will be much higher (see Mike's earlier thread), that will reduce the PSRR of that stage. Thought of something after I went to be last night, most if not all commercial circuits I've seen having an input, driv...

But all that would do is show the amps frequemcy response ... simple tomes are used for testing is they are possible to analyse and make some sense off, but it seems that they are possibly too simple to actually provide any meaningfull results. Maybe we should see if we can reach a consensus of wha...

so one consensus seems to me to be that valves good (measure bad) transistors bad (measure good). I don't think that's true, both valves and transistors can be both good and bad. Where's that article Tubes Vs. Transistors http://www.milbert.com/tstxt.htm which seems to conclude the only real differ...
