I agree with Scott's comments above. and of course the bass frequencies are more or less omnidirectional. What frequency do the cones have to work up to ?
I still don't really know how all the bass doesn't just cancel, without a baffle, irrespective of how much E.Q. you apply !

I'm trying to remember, did Purifi have a 'serving suggestion' using a passive radiator for the 6.5" midbass unit, so was it an 8" P.R. then ?

I've been off work and it's been baltic a lot of the time, but I did get out Thursday and Yesterday for an hour or so, when it was nicer.

I think the main advantage is avoiding port chuffing, but I agree Steve(1) that having a coil and some resistance could give you more options. Do you have an idea how to select a suitable driver though ? - are there guidelines ? Presumably looking at Fs is the first step.

I found this rather interesting. Dave Mcleaod is a bit of a legend, not just in terms of being the UK's best all-round climber -

This is from a couple of weeks ago. Dave sent us some pics of veneer work on the finals cabs, in-process. There were both PP and SE. I think the SE was a parallel SE.
