I've got two brand spanking new ones you are welcome to. They can't cost much - how much do you want to pay?

P.S. I still think they sound 'hard' though. How about NOS JAN 5842WAs instead?

Doncaster? where's that?

erm, Paul demo'ed the shuagang against GE VT4C and something pretty rare and sweet.

It was at Witham #1 Paul decided to kamikaze the Music Angle 845 with a PE dance mat.

Can't remember, sorry Paul - unreliable info:- they were about £80 the pair with copper bottoms.

Those £20 211 Shuagangs weren't that bad though, were they.

6D22S

the best thing since sliced llama! half wave rectifiers, they do 600volts at 300ma and they take 6volt heaters. Tiny volts drop and they have a lovely slow rise time - makes GZ34 look positively hasty. I bought 12 in all from an epayer in Russia (and I don't suppose it is really his fault). I now ha...

6CD6

While I'm cooling my heels waiting for O-Netics push pull transformers to arrive I've been messing around with other bits and pieces. Right now I'm using a pair of 6CD6s as SE, DC'd to 6P5s. Go basic and play, measure things and see what it sounds like. They sound very good indeed. I was wondering i...

There will be a place Scott...somewhere. I was delighted to find, in a model shop, sheets of 2mm ply; so very much easier to work with than veneer and of course it comes up beautifully, but as you say... ' while in the UK we're stuck with stuff that's so narrow, you'd struggle to cover a small floor...

The very same 6em7s. You can't give 'em away!!! well I did give a few pairs away. I really wanted peeps 'over there' to stop dribbling over their el84s and realise just how easy it is to make a really smashing SE albeit 1watt amplifier. Dave and some other chap who built an amp and then disappeared ...

One cheerful chap sent me a pair of 211s and he wouldn't tell me what they were packaged in - intriguing! He said that if they arrived damaged he'd eat his (surgical) cap. They arrived in a hospital organ donor case, still marked emergency - kidney donor supplies! a little disingenuous perhaps (thes...

A loose connection on the HT supply to the amplifier will cause the HT to shoot up to 600 volts. Try waggling some wires.

When you put the bottom back on it might be enough to pull the loose connection/dry joint off, so the PSU output is effectively open circuit.

That's a very helpful warning Darren! I received a package yesterday, no chance to refuse delivery but it was some valves. It looked llike they had been wrapped in bubble wrap and brown paper (I've received an Epiphone SG guitar couriered like this - YIKES! but it was fine). As I cut the covering of...
