Re: Interesting DSP info
Steve Yes you need a PC or a Mac running a convolution engine to apply the filters generated by Acourate and Audiolense. So in my case that PC will run JRiver (which has an embedded convulsion engine) ED I’ve just seen this auto correction but I’m going to leave it in for entertainment purposes and ...

Re: Interesting DSP info
Well given the number of responses this obviously wasn’t as interesting as I thought ! I am inclined to think that a lot more hi fi enthusiasts would be interested in AudioLense and Acourate if (a) they understood enormous advantages these software packages bring to the party and (b) there wa...

Re: My Swansong speaker build
Sounds like congratulations are in order Colin in relation to your new speakers, I’d love to hear them sometime. A mildly interesting anecdote (well sort of) about the SBA Be tweeter. A few years ago I exchanged some emails with an American chap called Tom Pezerella (almost certainly incorrect spell...

Interesting DSP info
I think most people would agree that DSP has the potential to be incredibly useful in relation to both speaker crossovers and room correction. It can achieve things which are simply impossible if you restrict yourself to the analogue domain. The widespread perception however is that all that utility...

Solder
I need to buy some more solder and I’m thinking 40% lead, 0.5mm with active flux. But I’d be very interested to hear from more frequent slingers what your favourite solder is for through hole work, including specific brand / spec - ?

Soft start query
From what I’ve seen most soft start modules comprise an NTC and a relay that bypasses the NTC once the trafo is charged up as it were. My query is why is it preferable to bypass the NTC? I’m sure it will still offer some resistance once up to temperature, but enough to mean the PS caps are not kept ...

Re: Chokes for MoFo
Same sinks as I’ll be using Ed so I’ll be interested in your layout, although I’m favouring monoblocks given the size / weight.

Re: Chokes for MoFo
Good stuff. Lets hope they live up to expectations !
Re: PS advice
So Nick my takeaway from your post is; don’t bother with the cap Mx, just use the SMPS, OR, use a linear PS. I’m guessing you’d favour the latter . . .
PS advice
I’m going to build a big MoFo and plan on using a pair of LRS-200-24 https://docs.rs-online.com/6f52/0900766b814e4214.pdf Some builders on DIYA have added a cap Mx such as this https://allo.com/sparky/capacitance-multiplier.html and a CRC. I understand the MoFo has very good PSRR, so my question is,...
