First off, big thanks to Steve for organising, good job! It was great to meet up with both the people I've met before and those I met for the first time - I had great time. Also, listening to all those amps helped me work out what attributes my perfect amp would have; the speed and attack of the bes...

I do intend to bring the Cambridge to Owston and perhaps also a (very rare) 3 box DPA DAC I've acquired that has variable dither settings.

I2S vs SPDIF/USB

I've often read that I2S is inherently superior to SPDIF or USB for transmission of digital audio data but I've never had any glimmer of understanding of why that is. If you are in the same boat here is an explanation aimed at the layman, see post 329: http://boards.psaudio.com/showthread.php?t=3412...

The DAC in HiFi world used 16 1543s. I suspect its very similar to the DDDAC Pah! Only 16 DACs? Try 128 - see post 164: http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=70107&perpage=50&pagenumber=4 John Westlake was the designer of the Pink Triangle Da Capo DAC that many peopl...

I'd be happy to do that but unfortunately it seems I'm going to Owsten not Owlston

Just caught up with this thread. I'm happy to bring along the aforementioned Cambridge DAC to Owsten if people are interested in a DAC comparison. Alternatively, I could bring my Sugden CDP which has a 1541 S2 (Double Crown). For the uninitiated, these were the cream of the 1541 crop - perfect examp...

ATH-W1000

I'm drawing up a shortlist of headphones to audition. These Audio Technica phones have had some good reviews (for what that is worth). Anybody heard them, got them?

Nick wrote:That remionds me Ian, would you mind if I brought that Dac of yours tomorrow?

I have fitted the BNC and gave it a try, very very different to the Berisford, but I don't think in a bad way.
