New blues Mecca in . . .errr Keighley??

Given the number of Northerners who haunt this forum I thought this might be of interest. It seems that Keighley is not only the place where the best beer in the world is made (contrary to what you might think that is not a controversial statement, because its a fact) but also the home of a great bl...

Watermelon Slim & the Workers

Who said "white men can't play the blues". Rubbish I say and cite the original Fleetwood Mac, Stevie Ray Vaughn and these guys.

Their last 2 albums have both won awards and been showered with accolades. Playing the UK in July. See you at the Sheffield Boardwalk if you can make it.

I'm considering buying the WD headphone amp kit. If anybody has got one / used one, how do you rate it?

Little Feat in Holmfirth

This is me thinking out loud as much as anything but maybe one of you guys in audio-talk land can help me decide something. OK, Little Feat with Lowell George were/are one of my all time favourite bands. I saw them live about 35 years ago (no, say its not true!) and they were truly wonderful. Then L...

Simon Don't know if you are interested in headphones but Audio Technica reputedly make some good ones and they are much cheaper there than in Europe. The W1000 model is said to be v.v. good by users. Just daydreaming here but if it was me I'd also take the opportunity to listen to those retro styled...

Random mix torture

I had my Squeezebox playing on random mix the other day. A Eurythmics track came on (that I used to like). I had to turn it off.

I get a different answer every time I try this, but the two constants are Zep 1 (their purest and most complete album) and my old favourite, the rather hackneyed Mozart Clarinet Concerto (LSO/Maag/De Peyer Decca Kingsway Hall 1960). For the other five, god knows. Sandy Denny, Kate Rusby, Kraftwerk,...

This is very depressing. I think I've read that someone has started a campaign against this satanic practice. I'll find a link and post it. I'm buying the T shirt I've just decided.

In no particular order: Get yer ya ya's out - the Stones Live at Leeds - the Who How the West Was Won - Zep Waiting for Columbus - Little Feat I'm certain I've forgotten a couple, have to edit it later :) Took about 2 minutes; here's the edit: 10,000 Maniacs Unplugged Talking Heads live album (menta...

Every home should have one

Listening to Will's copy of Folk Singer by Muddy Waters last weekend made me think about a list game that I sometimes play, especially when talking to some my younger colleagues at work about music. It goes like this; list 5 absolute classic albums that every real music lover should own. So here is ...
