What do you like about the monkey 300B ?
A friend of mine built a 6C45pi/211 monkey but it wasn't entirely successful . I think the voltage across the 211 ( 750v ) wasn't enough to wake-up the bass on the 211, it was very woolly .

I have a nasty feeling I know who used to own that 103R and it's a shame but then life doesn't run smoothly for very long does it ? My Mayware tonearm decided to start falling apart the other day , so I need to swap back to the other one , must go carefully so I don't knacker my 103R as well . Nice ...

James insists the C3g does sound better, but I couldn't see an easy way to implement it for 300B with 460V B+ without problems on dissipation or excessive gain . Anyway, I'm still using this circuit, there or thereabouts ( with series-reg power supply ) myself .

I think the Onkens JJ has built will be almost the same as 285GMF in Jensen 'Onken' I'm building myself, ie. flat to about 45 and maybe -3db at 40 Hz, I think that includes floor gain .
