Re: OK…so I’m on wi’ summat

Inputs wired to selector switch and dropper resistors for input stage fitted. They can be seen just below the large metal cased capacitor. Voltages check out perfectly with the 5R4GY rectifier: IMG_0316.jpeg Amp is in the downstairs system and sounds great with the TV. I’ll try it on some music late...

Amp is almost finished. Just need to cable the input sockets to the selector switch tomorrow and it’s job done.

Re: OK…so I’m on wi’ summat

Well, apart from answering a few PMs, and posting here, I haven’t lifted a finger today. Been reading quietly. Fitting all that hardware to the chassis yesterday took it out of me physically, so Greg was right to be concerned. I’m much more in tune with mind and body and refuse to press on regardles...

Re: OK…so I’m on wi’ summat

Hi Greg, “The biggest problem with mental illness is the isolation and being trapped in your head. Escaping that isolation is a prerequisite for recovering.” This is not me speaking but the excellent NHS high intensity therapist I was privileged to work with. Pulling out of this isolation is part of...

Yes…The operative word with my project is “simple” too. I’m absolutely not up to making any kind of attempt to do anything with the SV811 DHTs. They’re too much at the moment.

Re: OK…so I’m on wi’ summat

The 6V6s will be driven by 6SN7 courtesy of Mr I, a few months ago.
Black metalwork is going to need touching up, but that can be done at the end of the job.

The wiring will be completed over the next couple of days.

Re: OK…so I’m on wi’ summat

Cheers guys. :) How do the sides attach to the ally Steve? Hi Simon, The sides attach with half-inch aluminium angle. The angle is screwed onto the side cheeks then the ally is attached with 3mm through bolts. The bolts can be seen in the pic below: IMG_0302.jpeg Back panel: IMG_0304.jpeg

OK…so I’m on wi’ summat

IMG_0301.jpeg It’s a 6V6 SE intended for the spare room/study. Paint is a bit orange peel, but these days I don’t care. Chassis is a sheet of Wickes, 2mm aluminium, bashed into shape with end caps made from each end of a bamboo chopping board. I even managed to order the parts online from HFC’s Box...

Welcome backs mate, good to see you re-engaging.
Thanks guys. It’s been an uphill battle but thanks to the family, a few PMs and the NHS, things are looking up.
