A room much larger than our domestic ones really can't be representative, as you are saying. Well, yes, but the fests are as much about seeing people and talking (and drinking) as comparitive listening. It was mentioned that next time, it might be better, to find a source and amp, then try the spea...

Nick maybe isn't interested in deep bass that could destroy his room, no doubt because he wants to listen to music. Oh, I have nothing against deep bass, but it was only when I got the kit home and turned it back on, that I realised just how loud we had been playing compaired to the levels I employ...

is it not reasonable to identify and trial music that can challenge a systems capabilities? As you know Greg, I am somewhat thick skinned, so it was just in fun, but to give my answer. It is reasnable to do that, as long as the music used is something that the owner and builder would likely listen ...

Ok, now the next question. Irony, is it: 1. A measure of how many transformers there are in an amplifier 2. A form of utterance that postulates a double audience, consisting of one party that hearing shall hear & shall not understand, & another party that, when more is meant than meets the e...

Yep, that would be very clever of you Dave :-).

Maybe add a 10uf cap on the lower leg of the PD as well.

Ok, my 2d's worth. With a 350v TX and solid state diodes, I would go LCLC, if needed use a small cap to boost the voltage, but you know that now Dave. I like the currrent DC supply. Nobody seemed to object to it powering the WE300A's at the weekend :-). And as Andrew said, AC should be fine for the ...

Nick I was going to post some images but the BB sw doesn't support them unless via another URL
Yes, if this is a problem for folk, mail them to me, and I will put them in a images section. Or use something like photobucket and link to that.

0.22u is a common sort of value, its down to the timeconstant of the high pass finter formed by the cap and the following grid resistor. 0.22u and 220k gives a -3dB point at about 3Hz, 0.1 would be at 7Hz, 0.22u with a 100k resistor would be 11Hz So you can see there is a fair range of values that w...

I was a great believer in Audio Note PIO's, I used them in the 211 driver stage, and my preious phono stage. Having tried Mundorf caps however, I can hear what the PIO's are doing to the sound. You may like it, you may not. I prefer the Mundorf's. I compaired those to several other caps, Sonix's and...

Don't panic, my mistake. I will correct.

Edit: No, don't worry about it. A bit less volumn, a bit less distortion.
