Re: Salad Bowl Speakers
With the IKEA ones, I couldn’t glue them together because of whatever they were coated with. I taped a sheet of sandpaper to the floor and put the bowls upside down on it then rubbed them until I had a flat on the rim. Glued easily with pva then Don’t know what the Wiko bowls are coated with, but I ...

Re: Salad Bowl Speakers
Ray, what about something like this: https://ikeahackers.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/06/spherical-ball-speaker-diy.png If I was still making speaker I might be tempted to build a similar pair. 8) I have wondered about those, but the centre to centre distance looks too big to me. Wonder if they coul...

Re: Quite possibly my last speakers
Very nice That 60Hz is going to be fun to fill in Do you know where it is coming from? I have similar on my left speaker as there’s a bay window at that side - the other side is open to the dining room, so I don’t have it on the right speaker You have it on both speakers even though your room isn’t ...

<stupid_question>
I assume that ICE cars are shipped with empty fuel tanks, couldn’t they ship electric cars with flat batteries?

Good job it is a hypothetical speaker and nobody is building it then
Seriously though, many small bookshelf speakers are tuned to around 70Hz, so not ridiculous, unless, like you said, you like bass

Re: T/S parameters valid for normal listening levels.
I think whether room or speaker dominates depends on their relative frequencies. My living room has a strong peak at 50Hz, a large dip at 40Hz, and there’s a big suck out on the left speaker at 70Hz. A bass reflex cabinet tuned to 80Hz would be speaker dependent, below that, the room definitely domi...

Re: T/S parameters valid for normal listening levels.
Not exactly. You're in the acceleration (rising response) region here, where as noted you can and do get variations with drive level due to the electrical & mechanical non-linearities / asymmetries in motor design, suspension[s] etc. Klippel is very good at revealing the reasons for those, but ...

Re: T/S parameters valid for normal listening levels.
Frequency response, i.e. any deviation from a ruler-flat line from 0Hz to infinitely high is defined as linear distortion. Assuming you're working within the mechanical limits of the components, it's basically fixed and doesn't in itself show deviations. I don't think that this is true When you loo...

Re: T/S parameters valid for normal listening levels.
Looking at Klippel tests, excursion seems to be the main thing that makes parameters vary - if excursion is low, the driver is more linear. I dare say some effects cancel and others sum though These are for my drivers: https://www.daytonaudio.com/images/resources/290-208-dayton-audio-nd90-4-klippel-...
