Re: A little light humour

I love the fact that time_t is a signed 32 bit number. Who thought, you know, we might get time travel in the future, so signed it is

Re: Interesting (non musical) YouTube videos.

I followed a link from their website to help folk hear their transmissions that don't have access to VLF RX. If you go to -> http://websdr.ewi.utwente.nl:8901/ you can use a Dutch SDR receiver that tunes waaaaaay down low to 17.200KHz which is rather handy. My RTL SDR dongle only goes down to about...

You're welcome Dave and good luck with the exam
It's fascinating, but too late for me to build anything for this year - who knows for next year though - might have a go

Re: Interesting (non musical) YouTube videos.

Did anyone see this about an electro-mechanical VLF transmitter in Sweden called the Alexanderson Alternator. Nearly 100 years old and used twice a year. Broadcasts on 17.2kHz https://www.diyaudio.com/community/threads/tuned-sound-amplifier-receiver-for-the-vlf-christmas-eve-transmission-from-saq-gr...

Just read this again: Digital landline switch paused for vulnerable people https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-67750235 Quote: TalkTalk uses a different system which means very few customers will need to be switched. Seems like it's true: https://community.talktalk.co.uk/t5/Our-Blog/Copper-Telepho...

Re: Nothing In Particular

Not sure how much this works: Digital landline switch paused for vulnerable people https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-67750235 How do you know if you are going to become vulnerable? What if a vulnerable person wants to buy your house? I’m guessing that it’s a short term problem and solutions will...

Re: Nothing In Particular

Very strange. First start stop car I drove was in 1983, so they should have got the hang of it by now

Re: Zero emission road vehicles.

We were supposed to be getting car charging points in our flats, but been told that the buildings insurance company won't let us I have been told that hybrids are OK as it's only the charging that they are worried about All sounds a bit suspect to me, but academic as I can't afford a new car just no...

How come “off my chest” and “off my tits” don’t mean anything like each other? 🤷🏻‍♀️

Re: General Raspberry Pi stuff

No, nothing changed, and no other DHCP server. Nothing new in the house too The other Raspberry Pi seems fine, for now - may have a different version of OS though Exactly as per the reddit thread - fine for years, then it would be fine during the day and lose its connection overnight, except mine is...

Re: General Raspberry Pi stuff

No, just DHCP
Fixed the IP address rather than using the router to always give it the same one. No idea why it drops the connection when using DHCP, and no idea why it ran fine with DHCP for three years either

Re: General Raspberry Pi stuff

Don't know if this has been covered or not, but just came back from holiday and the heating is not working I have been running our storage heaters from a Raspberry Pi for a few years now, and suddenly it is losing its network (wifi) connection overnight Found this and giving it a go. Will update if ...
