Re: General health matters.
Actually, my sense of taste is not as bad as I thought. I sprinkled some sea salt in my palm, and touching my tongue on it the taste was obvious.
Smelling things still not happening.
Seems Jean has remained free of symptoms so far.

Re: General health matters.
I went on a coach trip yesterday, and on the way home my throat felt a little sore. During the evening the throat got worse, as though I had a cold coming, and this morning I got a positive Covid test. BUM. :( That was Tuesday morning. I hadn't lost my sense of smell/taste, but this morning they ha...

Yes, there were many reasons why the British car industry disappeared.
At one time the only truly British car company's were TVR, Reliant and Morgan. Two of those have gone and the other is no longer truly British.

Apart from maybe Minis no one thinks of those cars in any kind of reverence that some do of say an Alfa though. There's a reason (or several) why we don't have a car industry any more. I don't have any experiences of Alfa cars, although friends told me the Alfasud was good until such time it rusted...

Re: Nothing In Particular
My first car was a yellow Austin Allagro. £600. It was the sports version as it only had 2 doors ;-). Only ever ran on 3 of the 4 cylinders. I remember jacking it up one day to change the wheel and the cill collapsed on to the jack because of corrosion. There was a little more ventilation in the ca...

Re: Nothing In Particular
Many years ago I was working for a Motor Factors in Heybridge, near Maldon in Essex.
One day I called at a small premises in Maldon town, and in the back part was a machine knocking out plastic (or nylon) Lockheed master cylinder screw caps as used on Minis and other British cars.

Re: what are you doing ?
I saw a survey where Americans were asked "what is the most British car of all time".
The answer was the Mini Cooper, the original early 60s one not the BMW version.
