Re: Valve amplifier service

As Paul says, looks like you have the Mk2 push pull kit. Obtaining a pair of 7025’s for V1 would be the intended preference, but I doubt that will correct your hum problem. If you PM me your email address, I’ll send you the build instructions with circuit diagrams pdf for your benefit and that of wh...

Re: Valve amplifier service

It would help,to identify which version of K5881 you have. Easiest way is to check the small valves. Mk1 has Valve 1, EF86. Valve 2, ECC83. Mk2 has V1, 7025. V2, ECC83. PSE has V1, 7025. V2, 6922. Re: Mac Mini as a Music Server

Nice to have an upgrade. It’s worth checking the optical capability of your Mac-mini. Sounds like you are using mini-TOSlink. You may find that is limited to 48kHz although I understand various more recent servers support 24/96 via TOSlink.

Re: Valve amplifier service

Yes, I can supply the full build instructions with schematics for all the three versions of the WAD5881 kits. Worth having as the diagrams posted by Mark above come from the DIY Supplement articles which were often based on the prototype build and sometimes changed when the kit was finally released.

Re: Nothing In Particular

Ok, possibly it is my problem, although I don’t believe I’m so different to make me the only one who gets pissed off when opening A-T forum, I find new posts on threads of interest that are nothing more than reactionary exclamations. Exclamations offer nothing of value and nothing beyond the informa...

Yep, and we could sit around for years waiting for the promised technology to arrive on the market or, as I choose, we can invest in the best currently available and enjoy the pleasure it brings now.
