With regard to a lift resistor (I can't remember the wiring) but you could end up with a potential on the ground plane this is connected directly to the output transformer and you headphones, I would say a definite no to that, what would be the purpose of it.

Well shield the O/P transformers from the mains transformer i.e. with an insulation plate (metal)

Hello Re Rewinding If its torque related it will pull less on a full cassette rather than an empty one, having said that the take up speed of motor the motor will decrease as it winds in the tape, if its tyre driven I would clean the take up and supply reels and idlers with something like belt or pl...
