Re: Headphone amps to build or buy

Decided to try the xerxes upstairs with the headphones as it wasnt getting any use as i ran out of space for the power supply and the 110v step down transformer for it. Seemed like abit of a waste.
Stuck the dv20x2h on it
It really does sound lovely through the cans.

Re: Nothing In Particular

Went out for a run this morning, decent pace, abit too warm to be really going for it. Got back and walked into people asking where the water was coming from. a bloody busted fish tank seal. Nice little jet of water coming out. Which resulted in having to rapidly drain a rather large fish tank, find...

Rigb body on an old at440mlb

I recently bought some more carts that i saw on ebay, jumped on them because they were pretty cheap for what they were. First one was a dynavector dv20x2 low output mc that was very cheap but a bit of a punt because there wasnt much info on the listing. Turns out, that happily i got an absolute barg...

Re: Something Stirs in the Workshop

I think thats where the vents mi dad put in the 12 inch fanes he had were, they werent restricted by space under them though because they had legs on them that were quite tall I seem to remember the big castle speakers had slot loaded cabs which fired downward onto a plinth. So did all the ports on ...

Re: Something Stirs in the Workshop

Partly by ear but partly with the rudimentary measurement setup i have, rew on the laptop, dac, behringer ecm8000 mic and interface. Tweaked it how i liked it then measured to see what it was doing and then tweaked the filling in the vent again until i was happy with what i could get out of it with ...

Re: Something Stirs in the Workshop

I put one big vent in because i had the same thought, the top is 28mm thick in total with an 18mm cabinet top and a 10mm black top cap. I found the resistive element of the vent needed some tweakery, initially i had it too restrictive so the box was acting more like a sealed cabinet than a leaky box...

Re: Something Stirs in the Workshop

When i cut the aperiodic vents in the fane boxes i found some bits of info, i 'think' it was on rod elliots site. Pulled this quote from the fane thread when id just done it, not sure if its too relevant to what you are doing "Bashed some big holes in the cabs this afternoon. Found some info on...

Re: Nothing In Particular

Found a 40 odd year old atari 2600 in the loft that i forgot we had. Emmas parents bought it for her brother and sister in 1980, managed to get it working by replacing one dodgy cap on the main board Some of the carts for it dont work properly so ill need to give all the pins on the carts themselves...
