Suggestion: if anyone is in the East Sussex area, pop by and have a look/listen... (obviously, let me know in advance!)

Alternatively, do you guys arrange meet-ups/bake-offs or similar? Might be able to bring it along, if anyone's interested...

Hi Philip, Output from a DAC: assuming you have a volume control here (otherwise, you'd be flat out volume all the time), you'd need a "two phono plug to jack socket" lead to make the connection and then you'd need to look at the headphones' impedance and how that would react with the DAC ...

Gents, I'll take some photos, if you'd like to see the beast in closer detail. I'm sure I read somewhere that the O/P tubes are configured differently, too (pentode valves worked as triodes?) - does this make any sense, with or without a visit to a Dutch-style cafe? Had a quick listen again tonight....

Yes, but I've already spent my money  - don't think I'll get another plinth past the Mrs, since we haven't had a holiday yet this year...

Hi Dave,

I blame the parents - well, they named me, after all!

Fact is, I use RSC on all the forums I go to: makes it easier for people to recognise me that way.

I'd rather be called Rob, to be honest... thanks for asking and thanks for your welcome.

Hi Philip,

I did find some info by "Googling" over the weekend - Philips valve data book, circuit diagram and Dutch language owners/service manual.

Of course, I can't post links yet, being a newb... give it time, though!

Philips AG9015

Hi all, new to the forum: I've got one of these amplifiers.

Philip (pre65) knows a bit about it: anyone else got anything to share on these?

Yes, I know it well: born & bred in that area, rest of the family still in that part of the world - what a small world!

Thanks for the welcome, gents.

Hmmm, that looks familiar... Mine's not so wide: the arm runs parallel to the motor unit, rather than at 45 degrees (or so) as in the image. Made from "Zimbabwe" granite - polished black but speckles in the surface finish - of approx 20mm thickness. I'll get a photo sorted out soon, ...

SP10 - my POV

New here, so late to this topic, but I had a 401 from '96 until about '98, when I was introduced to the joys of an SP10/II, which I bought after about 10 minutes of comparison - a friend still runs the 401. In 2003, I fitted a granite top plinth/armboard (using an SME IV, which I had used on the Gar...

Hello From (sometimes) Sunny Sussex!

Hi all, I've been recommended to have a look at this forum by a user of, er, another forum (ouch!)... I like what I see, so hence have signed up. I'm hanging on to the last threads of sanity, after 10 or more years in UK hi-fi retail, so can hopefully contribute something to the forum?! I've just bu...
