Re: What Are You Listening To Right This Minute?

When steve called this week he left me a couple of his playlists on cd, been playing those these last few nights and have really enjoyed them

Especially the Bowie track, that is one of my favourites ( unwashed and slightly dazed from space oddity)
Forgot how good it is
thanks

Re: Mini meet at Steve's on Monday

I don't think I did steve sep amp justice with last night's comments With the 5881 it sounded very good, to me it sounded extremely pinpoint sharp and clean. You could hear how clean it sounded, the work to the power supply had paid dividends The kt66 was up next and quite a step up, but it surprise...

Re: Mini meet at Steve's on Monday

Thanks steve I really enjoyed it, more chatting than listening it was great to hear all the amps, thanks for bring them, simons all solid-state mofo was great to hear and compare to my part valve driven version. Your amp sounded really good, it really highlighted the different output valves you brou...

Re: This looks scary

An interesting read Greg, looks like a good reason for water companies to increase water costs in the future.. The government then could set a windfall tax on the increased profits. Then whilst the poorest struggle the government can afford help them for a short while until they and the rest of us g...

Re: PP3521 idht

I built a breadboard SET using those as output valves, they are not globe px4's but I would say they give the likes of the cosser 2p a run for their money. For me you can tell the different sound of smaller anode in comparison. Nevertheless they are very nice valves especially considering what they ...

Re: More SEPs

I threw away a box of of ef80's 20 years ago steve, probably still got a few somewhere, there where that many about they where worthless ! It will be interesting to see what the e180f is like amplifying at driver signal voltages and i would guess easy to overhead the input. I know Nick has used them...

Re: Wood options in 2023

Flooring grade chipboard is my choice, in my opinion it has less 'sound' than the best ply's. That’s interesting Steve because I’ll soon be buying lots of it our for our house renovations - I assume you mean the stuff that’s used nowadays instead of floorboards? There a local offcuts type of wood y...

Re: 807 SEP

I remember that day when we spent the afternoon valve rolling, and you took those kt66 home, they did sound nice. Being kinkless, they where designed to be better for audio than the 6l6 types.. supposedly. I've still got those vt75's we tried, now those where really good. I'm sort of lacking in moti...
