Re: Nothing In Particular
Just for info…Quboz, is now available for phones etc. We can now get rid of Spotify, as SWMBO should be able to use it on her smart speakers.

Re: Owston 25 ?
Probably can do both dates…. Will check with Dave if he can go for the 27th as first preference. Not sure what we will bring, as haven’t built anything new for a while. Do have a MEH speaker, that maybe I can bump up the priority list.

Re: Nothing In Particular
Definitely willing to share costs. Compare it to a cinema ticket, where the quality of the entertainment arguably won't be as good, nor last as long.
Suppose I should start working on another Owston system.

I have been asked to make some of these…. https://www.jwsound.live/solana-diy ...

Re: Nothing In Particular
Do humane traps….also apply to tree rats? As those and sky rats are the bane of my vegetable garden, everything was in balance when we had a local bird of prey….. which the local pigeon fancier either got rid of or scared off, those vermin are now taking over.

Re: Nothing In Particular
I used something called Mo bacter last year…. I was moss free in June last year….. it’s all back now. So did it really work? Apparently moss doesn’t like phosphates, which was the main agent in the natural approach of Mo bacter. I am trying to crowd it out with grass seed this year…. I have a 20kg ...

Potential meet up 15th March
I have the house to myself on the 15th of March - so I was wondering if I have a Hi-Fi day, inviting people around for a limited “ bake off” as they were called on the WAM. ( it’s limited as changing 8 channels of amplification isn’t that simple.) Let me know if anyone’s interested. As with these ...

Re: Nothing In Particular
Not sure how I know if the motor on this machine is “okay” or not.
An insulation test would be a good start
The high frequencies from the switching tends to find weak spots in the insulation and break them down over time. To be honest, it only became an issue when cable lengths got towards ...

Re: Nothing In Particular
Not sure how I know if the motor on this machine is “okay” or not. Any thing to look out for before I blow up a motor and VFD? The machine is probably around 50 years old or so, as like you i go for older heavy well built machines the guarding and fence weight more than some modern machines do ...

Re: Nothing In Particular
Thanks for that information. I wasn’t aware that 380v output ones were available at reasonable cost. I have only used the ones which just convert to 3 phase without bucking the voltage. Looks to be some on eBay in the uk, but only the 7.5 kw ones which probably won’t work with a 2.2kw motor. https ...

Re: Nothing In Particular
Unfortunately, I need the 2800rpm of the motor, to achieve 6000 rpm on the spindle, otherwise the quality of cut is poor. I have taken, the end cap off, will post a picture, but it doesn’t look easy. Hoping that machine mart have a sale over Xmas, may end up with a 3hp single phase motor if the ...

Re: Nothing In Particular
Need some advice regarding electric motors. I have a number of machines that have 3 phase motors running in delta configuration via an inverter. My latest purchase, a spindle moulder has a 3 phase motor but it doesn’t look its readily convertible from star to delta. IMG_2024-12-24-160807.jpeg . Does ...

Re: Slow Mo MoFo
……and after a couple of years I'm back with the px4s.
I intend to do some measuring on the 2A3 amp, just to see it for myself on an analyser. But I do agree that there is something lost with the simpler “girl and guitar” material. One thing that did bug me for a long time with the 2A3 was how I ...

It was bought from North of the Border - however I know that Ali has a far better taste in music than Phil.
