Re: Hybrid OB / Horn project

That 3D cad image confirms it’s a slot loaded open baffle, Bert has just used the wings as wave guides. As long as the chamber is very small the 1/3 and 1/5 wave length modes will hopefully be above 500 Hz, may need a higher order xover to mitigate them, also allow you to cross the horn a little low...

Re: Something Stirs in the Workshop

Finally got around to finishing off the second es250 horn. Personally I cannot qualitatively assess a single channel, needs to be stereo. They have merit, a different presentation to my midrange AMT’s. They bring the musician into your room, opposed to taking you into the music venue. Not as much ai...

Re: Hornresp query - TL design Tool

Managed to get sometime to play with Hornresp at the weekend. A little better but still not what i was expecting to get. Doesnt seem to be any affect from changing the stuffing parameters - must still be doing something wrong. attempt2a.png attempt2b.png Its along way off the original concept spiral...

Re: Hornresp query - TL design Tool

been playing with hornresp - without much success. for a Q =0.7 the driver wanted a 22 ltr sealed box. So i have tried to model that with a chamber on the back like in the examples that someone else has done before in the leonard audio package. TaperedTube 12P80Nd (1).jpg my attempt - not so good. i...

Re: Hornresp query - TL design Tool

Wanting to model a golden ratio spiral v other profiles. Yes a straight tube 1/2 the lowest wave length with stuffing getting progressively denser would work

Re: Hornresp query - TL design Tool

I am wanting to do a closed ended transmission line, like the nautilus to absorb the backwave completely. Hornresp modelling horns always has a mouth...... I need to look around the other options, Dave McBean has told me to look in the loudspeaker wizard tool.

Re: Hornresp query - TL design Tool

Yes I have planned the parabolically decreasing sections, if modelled like a horn you cannot have the termination at the end. I suppose I could tweak it until the backwave has no output via a small port. Which is what I think the vivid Gaya speaker does for its bass section, It’s from the same perso...

Re: Hornresp query - TL design Tool

I thought I had downloaded the latest version a month a go or so version 28 something- will check. Yes Without DSP contouring the 12p80nd has a rubbish LF response. Chopping 10db efficiency off it will get it down to where I need. Whether all the benefits of a Kt 0.15 driver are lost is another ques...

Re: Hornresp query - TL design Tool

i am wanting to make a "blackhole" behind a Beyma 12p80nd driver - so i get infinite baffle properties from a sealed box. Looking at 80hz bottom end. It was meant to be an easy fun project for the WAM show.....

Hornresp query - TL design Tool

I am trying to design a transmission line speaker, and have lost access to the tools I used to use : MK’s worksheets or more specifically the math cad license, and the Leonard Audio Tools, which don’t seem to be available anymore. I have seen people using a TL design tool in Hornresp. Any ideas if t...

I thought you were using furniture grade OSB for your cabinets 30 odd mm thick.

Re: Wood options in 2023

When my old man was making speaker cabinets for AR in the 1960's they used to sand fill the bass cabinets. A particle damper as we would now know it, between two ply sheets.
