Re: Nothing In Particular

Has to be the Austin Allegro, the one with the square steering wheel, surely? After my A levels I popped down to the labour exchange and found myself a 'summer' job in a small moulding start-up business - one of the things I made while working there were the rubber covers for Allegro pedals. My oth...

Surely it has to be 'Rolls Royce'.

Saw this on DIY Audio and thought of Ant! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xD-CNDkEDU8 Available as a part-kit on ebay and not as expensive as I thought it would be, though certainly not cheap! He also sells the bearing without the platter. https://www.ebay.com/itm/204371770204 https://www.youtube.co...

Re: Nothing In Particular

We're hosting a conference at work on Wednesday, one of the speakers is going to talk about 'bottom penetrating sonar'!

Re: The Audio-Talk Cycling thread.

No, not really, progression takes commitment and time, there are no (ethical) short cuts. You are assuming that they are doing it for the same reason as you. They may just enjoy the nice kit and streachy clothing. If that were the case they needn't have paid a non-trivial entry fee for a competitiv...

I've just finished listening to Spygate - about the 2007 F1 drama.

Thanks for the info and no problem. I concur with the gist of what you were saying but was just saying it isn't that simple or absolute.

BTW, my ride today took me out to Somerton, which, IIRC, you know well.

Re: The Audio-Talk Cycling thread.

Ahh that good old puritan work ethic again :-) No, not really, progression takes commitment and time, there are no (ethical) short cuts. [That doesn't actually argue against the point though. You could equally say "I know that reading books along with a decent diet, burns off fat" Except ...

Re: The Audio-Talk Cycling thread.

Don’t be too hard on them, Ray. For years we’ve all been fed the lie that exercise burns off fat. It doesn’t. Based on my own experience I know that exercise, along with a decent diet, burns off fat - I used to weigh about 30Kgs more than I do now and now my BMI and body fat measures are 'healthy'....

Different sense of humour ? Stan is a professional comedian so is adept at making things funny. I don't think there's any significant comedic talent involved in repeating the word 'Fokker' to titilate an audience, nor was it even new. It's not even correct because Spitfires would have been encounte...

Re: The Audio-Talk Cycling thread.

This morning I cycled out to Langport to support some friends who were participating in a sprint triathlon - very good event, well organised and supported. The only down side was the damp and very windy weather. I even rode the bike circuit (about 12mles) and recorded a very reasonable average speed...

Re: The Audio-Talk Cycling thread.

My 'spare' Shimano crankset is an 11-speed 105 so no problem with it.

Re: The Audio-Talk Cycling thread.

Ray, I've just been watching more about the Shimano crank scandal - do you have any that are affected by the recall ? Mark, I only have one bike that might be affected and there's no sign of the issue, however, I do have a friend/colleague who has experienced it, just before the recall emerged - he...
