Re: DAC power supplies

Yep, it’s common to all power supplies that are sold as a plug and play DIY solution. It’s not common if the power supply and regulator is integrated into the the product. I assume then Nick that is why the aftermarket PSs you make have a second regulation section towards the end if the umbilical t...

DAC power supplies

I am very interested in Andrea Mori’s (ex DIYA) DAC Lite, FIFO buffer and state of the art clocks. Some of the wildly enthusiastic builders of this DAC have used powers supplies from a co called MPAudio who are into using multiple LT3045s. Re: Something Stirs in the Workshop

Well that’s probably better than what I had in mind :P Which was simply that the early stuff was the best in both cases . . .

Re: Something Stirs in the Workshop

Everything I’ve read about the TPL suggests you want to be crossing no lower than 1200 and ideally at 2k, so your horn must be having quite a positive impact.

Re: Return of the Triffids

The woofers will go up to c.500hz.

The sound waves of an OB do cancel at the sides, which as I understand it is why you get the figure of 8 pattern.

Re: Return of the Triffids

When you look at other photos of the Reflector you can see that the horn is recessed into the void between the baskets, so I reckon it’s to reduce the overall width and height. I think the AE Dipoles look great from the front which is why I want them forward facing.

Re: Return of the Triffids

Thanks Steve. Looking forward to seeing the comments and observations.

It might be worth mentioning that my idea is to low pass 2 of the AE 12s at c.500hz (where they will cross to the big horn) and the other 2 at c.100hz so that they help to compensate for the low end roll off.

Re: Hybrid OB / Horn project

I’d welcome comments about the Sigma woofer system, or indeed any other suggestions re the 4 woofers.

(My original plan was a vertical stack - WW/HORN/WW - but that would be 2m tall and that is too tall for my liking.)
