Re: EDINGDALE speaker build
Colin,
You said that the new, improved Edingdales with the replacements for the Mark Audio woofers are a big improvement. Any chance you could describe the improvements in detail?
Thanks.

Thanks everyone. Toppsy, you're absolutely correct about the tension weakness in chipboard. But the workbench has vertical braces throughout and this should alleviate the problem. As the bench is essentially a torsion box, after some experimentation I think I'll have a crack at making it. Thanks aga...

Rigidity and Melamine Particle Board
The experts here seem to pretty much know everything about the rigidity of different materials for speaker cabinets. In my next speaker build I'd like to build a mark I version using melamine particle board. Would this material be rigid enough? Also, a non-speaker question but one where your opinion...

A Blast from the Past -- Cassettes
Hi, I've located some old cassettes I haven't played for about 15 or so years but which have great sentimental value (music recordings from an old flame). They were recorded using TDK Metal Type IV MA-XG90 tape on a Nakamachi recorder using Dolby B. Sad to say, the high frequencies have rolled off o...

A Silly Question That Must Be Asked
I've recently built some large speakers that, to my ears, sound absolutely outstanding. Better than anything I've heard--ever. And they're from a design on this website. And get this; I'm feeding them with a Denon AVR9100 receiver and an old Pioneer dvd player! With a budget limit of about 250 quid,...

Edales
Hello Toppsy, Sorry to bug you again. The Edales are obviously not as good as the Edingales. But, they do share the same Woofer #6. In your opinion, if the Edales are played at low-to-moderate volume in a small room (no, not that small room), do they sound almost as good as the Edingdales at low pla...
